Gravida Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) chairman Professor Euan Wallace has been awarded a prestigious Order of Australia in the Queen's Birthday Honours list (Australia, 10 June, 2013).
Professor Wallace was awarded for significant service to medicine, particularly in the areas of obstetrics and gynaecology.
The Order of Australia is an "order of chivalry" bestowed by Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia, to recognise Australian citizens for achievement or meritous service.
In the Australian honours system, appointments to the confer recognition for outstanding achievement and service.
Professor Wallace is Director of The Ritchie Centre at Monash University, Melbourne, and Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Southern Healthcare, Victoria’s largest public healthcare provider.
He also leads Gravida NZ’s international scientific advisory board, a group charged with providing independent, global advice on Gravida’s strategic direction, research and projects in . Professor Wallace and the rest of the board visited two weeks ago, and spent time reviewing and critiquing Gravida’s major projects and meeting Gravida members. They were also honoured and thanked by Associate Minister of Health and Agriculture, the Hon. Jo Goodhew for their services supporting researchers at a cocktail evening held at Parliament House in Wellington. See more about this visit here.
